Tesla Powerwall 3 Installation for Rural Property in Shropshire

This Tesla Powerwall 3 installation was completed in early summer 2025 (one from the first batch of PW3’s in the UK). It was an AC coupled system with a separate solar PV system installed on a outbuilding at the bottom of the garden.

The attraction of the Powerwall 3 for this client was that it provided whole house grid back up via the Tesla Gateway 2 should the grid fail, along with high charge and discharge rate (up to 10kW). We also installed one of the first 13.5kWh Tesla Powerwall 3 expansion packs a few weeks after the original installation (as soon as they were available to order!). Battery Storage Expansion, Simples!

Without half hourly electricity meter data (or some other form of monitoring)  it can often be tricky to fully understand how a particular person or business uses energy throughout a day (and night). However it all becomes clear once a battery storage system is installed. The Fox ESS Hybrid Inverter (and most other systems) have a detailed monitoring portal which allows users to se exactly how much and at what times electricity is being used within the building.

With this in mind we sometimes recommend going for a smaller battery to start with (5kWh for example in this case), and seeing how the system performs over a period of time. The beauty of the Fox ESS hybrid inverter and battery system is that additional batteries (up to 20kWh total) can be added easily if required.
