Battery Storage Installation Across Cheshire, Shropshire and North Wales

We install home and commercial battery storage within roughly a 50 mile radius of Chester: Chester and Cheshire, the Wirral and Merseyside, Warrington, Crewe and South Cheshire, Shrewsbury, Telford and Shropshire, and North East Wales including Wrexham, Flintshire and Deeside. Storage is fitted alongside a new solar array or retrofitted to a system already on the roof.

How Battery Storage Actually Pays for Itself

A battery earns its keep in two ways, and most quotes only mention the first. The obvious one is solar: panels generate through the middle of the day, when the house is usually empty, so without storage that surplus is exported for a few pence a unit and bought back at the full rate in the evening. A battery holds it instead.

The second is the one that pays in December. On a time of use tariff the battery charges overnight at the cheap off peak rate and discharges through the expensive evening peak, so it saves money on days when the array generates almost nothing. That is why storage still makes sense on a north facing roof, a shaded plot, or a property with a modest array, and why we model both effects at survey rather than quoting solar savings alone.

What Size Battery Do You Need?

Sizing is driven by evening consumption, not by the size of the array. A household using 8 to 10 kWh a day typically lands on a 5 to 10 kWh battery. A larger family home with an EV, a heat pump or electric heating usually wants 10 to 15 kWh or more. Oversizing wastes money, because capacity you never empty is capacity you paid for and never use. We size from your meter readings or half hourly data rather than a rule of thumb.

Tesla Powerwall and Fox ESS

We install Tesla Powerwall and Fox ESS. Powerwall suits households that want a large single unit, whole home backup during a power cut and a polished app. Fox ESS is modular, so capacity can be added later, and it often works out better value on a smaller system or where an existing solar inverter is being kept. Both are fitted under the same MCS and NICEIC accreditations as our solar work. Recent installs include a Tesla Powerwall 3, a Powerwall 2 in Chester, a Fox ESS hybrid inverter in Upton and nine new build solar and battery installations in Cheshire.

Retrofit, or Fit It With the Panels?

Fitting storage at the same time as the solar is cheaper: one set of scaffolding, one visit, one set of electrical works, and 0% VAT applies to the battery as part of the installation. Retrofitting to an existing array is straightforward and we do it regularly, usually with an AC coupled battery so your existing inverter and its warranty are left alone. If you already have panels, whether storage is worth adding depends on how much you currently export, and your supplier can tell you that figure.
